Welcome to the Spike Monkeys Volleyball Club
Beach Evenings
From May Day Bank Holiday (i.e. first Monday in May) until the end of August we hold a weekly beach evening where we take advantage of the great sandy beaches of Poole and Bournemouth and get reminded of what it's like to play volleyball in the wind.
Our regular beach evening is on Thursday nights, starting from around 6:45pm and continuing until it gets too dark or too cold. Sometimes if the weather is very good we will be there on another evening, but this is normally a last-minute decision.
It's starting to get a bit too cold and dark so now it is September we exclusively play indoors until next May.
Where is it?
Normally we are to be found at the beach at the end of the path at the far end of Banks Road car park, Sandbanks, although if someone has our usual spot we might be pushed towards the ferry a bit. A map is shown here, the full Google Maps page that it came from is here.
Our beach volleyballs usually have "SPIKE MONKEYS" emblazoned on them so we shouldn't be too difficult to find.
Weather considerations
We will generally be there whatever the weather unless the weather is particularly awful i.e. pouring down with rain. The Spike Monkeys twitter feed gets updated every Thursday with confirmation about whether the nets are going up so if the weather is questionable please check this before travelling to avoid disappointment.
In you're interested in the forecast for Sandbanks you can check the BBC's forecast or Metcheck's.
If you are a beginner, you are of course very welcome, please contact us before coming down so we can arrange somebody to show you the basics.
Tournaments
The only beach tournament in this area that we enter is the Sandbanks Beach Festival, details are on the tournaments page.
